There are still 11 days to go, so this means that you still have plenty of time to add some extra glow to your Christmas displays. When it comes to decorating your home whether it be inside or out we want it to look bright and cheerful. The use of LED Supabrights are this years best selling Christmas lights as they provide substantially more light while giving you the benefit of lower energy usage. Decorating your home with fairy lights has been a Christmas tradition for years. These lively displays lift people's spirits and just enliven an otherwise dreary street as people pass by in the darkness.

Traditional Christmas lights are generally simple single or parallel circles. For example, if one bulb in any part of the circuit goes out, then the entire chain goes out and that bulb needs to be replaced in order for the circuit to work. LED lights designed for decorative purposes use the same strategies, but there is one key difference. The LED lights are guaranteed to last significantly longer, offer a brighter glow and use slightly less energy.
The key benefit to using LED lights to brighten up your home is that so long as the actual circuit is not damaged consumers are able to get many years of use out of the set.
Decorating a Christmas tree is a traditional holiday pastime. However, sometimes the general safety of the tree is somewhat overlooked and can actually be dangerous if they are not properly looked after. Here at UK Water Features we have put together the following tips to consider when selecting and caring for your Christmas tree this holiday season.
If you are in the market for a new tree this year and you opt for a real Christmas tree make sure to take a good look at the needles. Brown or frail needles are generally a sign that the tree is old and no good. You may want to consider looking for a different one. There is a very simple yet very effective test to see if the needles are suitable. Simply grab a few needles and bend them in half to test their flexibility. If the needles spring back into place then the tree is perfectly fine. However if you notice that the needles snap or tear then it is advised you look at a different tree.
It is always a good idea to place your fresh new Christmas tree in a sturdy tree stand and filled with water to help keep the tree fresh. Keeping it fresh and preventing it from drying out. Dry trees a very vulnerable to catching fire.

It may sound obvious, however avoid placing open flames such as candles near the tree.
Placing the tree lights on the tree is the most exciting and often the most interactive as you and your partner/kids can join in, however before you put the lights on the tree, make sure to look at every bulb. If there seems to be anything out of the ordinary then avoid this set and replace with another one.
When decorating the inside of your home you need make sure that you use only those lights listed for indoor use. A UK Water Features top tip, make sure to unplug all Christmas lights before you go to bed or leave your home.
When your tree comes to the end of it's life cycle, it is important to notice the signs right away. When the tree begins to drop its needles it is time to safely remove it from your home. As mentioned before, a dry tree is very vulnerable to catching fire. A dried out tree should not be left in a garage, porch or hallway.

Over the weekend UK Water Features visited the Bradford Royal Infirmary Children's Ward with a box full of Christmas treats. As the government do not set a side any budget for the hospital to decorate their wards we decided to put our heads together and do what we could to help the unfortunate individuals who may be in hospital during the festive season.

We got together at our office here in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and put together a selection of Christmas decorations and lights that can be used to decorate the children's ward with. With a large selection of Christmas Trees, Christmas Lights, Fairy Lights and decorative wall silhouettes the hospital should be well lit this festive season. It is always sad to see individuals in hospitals, especially children over Christmas so because of that we wanted to do what we could to help those in need and help them have the best possible Christmas.

UK Water Features offers a huge range of Christmas Lights and Displays ideal for creating a unique display this Christmas.
When it comes to Christmas, nothing brings a family together more than sitting around a lovely Christmas tree during the holiday season. There is just something about it that is so warming and generally puts you in a good mood. It is not every year that you buy a new xmas tree, in fact you probably only buy a new one if the old is looking a little on the bare side. Picking the right kind of tree though may seem like a daunting task, after all you want to get it right if you to be admiring it for several years!
With the variety of trees seeming endless, you want to make sure that the one that you pick is suitable for your living room and of course you need to make sure that it fits!
Artificial Christmas Trees - probably the most popular of all the Christmas trees in everyone's living room. These are your standard xmas trees that come packaged in a box where you have to attached the branches and spread them out evenly. The 'no mess' artificial xmas trees are fantastic and look very realistic. Simply attaching the branches and adding some simple xmas tree lights, tinsel and baubles and you can have your self a lovely decorated tree in no time. Artificial trees come in sizes to suit all. So if you have a living room where space is limited then you be able to find a smaller tree to fill a corner. A great example would be the Woburn Slim Pine Artificial Christmas Tree 1.5m (5ft). However if you are looking for a tree on the slightly larger side you certainly will be able to find one. The Majestic Artificial Noel Pine Tree 2.4M (8ft) is a very large xmas tree that looks simply magnificant once decorated.
Fibre Optic Christmas Trees - These trees are wonderful, they can save you the time and hassle of having to attach fairy lights to your tree. The fibre optic tree is still an artificial xmas tree however it has tiny fibre optic branches spread evenly throughout to give a unique yet beautiful look to the tree. Finish of the look by adding some simple decorations and you could have a wonderful tree up in no time.
Pre Lit Artificial Christmas Trees - similar to the previous fibre optic style of tree, however the pre-lit xmas tree has fairy lights that have already been attached and hidden within the tree. Again, perfect time saver. There is no hassle on your behalf of having to wrap Christmas tree lights around the branches. There are many styles available however, the most popular tree this season is the 2.1m (7ft)Pre Lit Flocked Berry Pine Tree White Lights. Standing at 7ft, this is a perfect sized tree for a majority of living rooms or even conservatories.
Snow Flocked Artificial Christmas Tree - This style of Christmas tree is a great combination of a regular artificial xmas tree and a pre lit xmas tree however it has the added benefit of a unique snow covered branches effect. Once these trees are plugged in to the mains their true beauty shines. They look simply wonderful at night when you are sitting in your living room watching television by the fireplace on a cold winters day. With these trees you have the added benefit of a snow effect with out having to feel the cold. Finish up the look by adding a few decorations to enhance the tree. With this style of tree however you do not want to go over board on the decorations as it may look a little clustered.
One thing to remember regardless of what Christmas tree you decide on this year is that no tree is complete without a Christmas Tree Stand. With a varitey of sizes and colours available they are the perfect finishing touch to any style xmas tree.
All of these wonderful styles of Christmas trees are readily available right here in our Christmas Tree Shop.
UK Water Features offers a huge range of Christmas Lights and Displays ideal for creating a unique display this Christmas.
We have certainly had a lovely Autumn so far this year, the weather has been warm and the sun has been out for a good portion of it. However it may be that we have been a little lucky. According to weather forecasts we should certainly take advantage of the mild Autumn that is sweeping the nation at present. It is predicted that we could be in for a Siberian winter in the next few weeks. Thermometers are set to plummet and reach a perishing low of around -15C in a fortnight. Weather forecasters across the UK have warned that the weather could be as cold as it was last Christmas and it is advised to prepare now for the inevitable cold weather that is bound to come through.
Last year there was a shortage of rock salt, if the temperatures are to hit below zero then you can rest assured that people will be flocking to the shop in a mad rush again tis year to try to get their hands on some. Forecasters are predicating that people attempt to get their hand on a large bag of rock salt before the bad weather comes in. It is a wise investment, even if it is not used this year it's a guarantee that it will be needed in the future. Rock salt is perfect to place o your driveway, pathway or patio area to help prevent the ice from forming. It is also advised to place rock salt or grit on top of formed ice to reduce the risk of slipping.
Everyone loves the first snow, especially around the Christmas period. Kids are all off of school and love playing out in it. Rock salt was not the only thing that there seemed to be a shortage of last year. With the record amount of snow fall last year, sledges were hard to come by. That been said, snow shovels are an essential winter item. You don't want to be stranded in your home because of the pathways and driveways been full of snow. Owning a durable snow shovel is a must here in the UK. As we all know the side roads and streets do not get the needed attention from the snow ploughs so many of us tend to get stranded on our streets and have to dig our way out. It all may seem a little daunting, however preparation is key. Being prepared for the inevitable cold and freezing weather this winter and stocking up on the necessary winter accessories is a strong recommendation. After all it is better to be safe than sorry.
UK Water Features Christmas store is now open stocking a wide range of xmas lights, xmas decorations, xmas trees, artifical xmas trees and xmas fairy lights.
Every winter accross the UK we decorate our homes with Christmas decorations in celebration of the festive season. Every year we get the ladders out and thorw our selves into the loft to bring down last years decorations. It is a yearly tradition that is shared amongst millions of people not only across the UK but the entire globe. Having celebrated this tradition for countless years, now might be the time to replace that tired looking Christmas tree with a new artificial tree, now know as the 'no mess' Christmas tree.
Owning an artificial Christmas tree in your living room might not be the old fairlytail traditional Christmas tree as they all seem to be actual real trees. What they don't actually show you in all the Christmas stories is the residue that a real Christmas tree leaves on your carpets.

A modern artificial tree in your living room avoids all the mess and will leave you with a hassel free clean up after Christmas has passed. Now a days many of the new 'no mess' artificial tree actually look very realistic and could easily pass off as a real tree. With many different styles and sizes available there is certainly one that will be suitable for your living room this year. Take for example the Green Newfoundland Deluxe Artificial Tree. This is only one style of tree out of hundreds that are available but as you can see it is available in three different sizes, the 1.8m, 2.1m and the larger 2.4m. As the tree gets larger in size so does the number of branch tips. For example, the 2.4m tree has 1576 branch tips. That is a whole lot of tree!
UK Water Features has a huge range of garden summer essentials ranging from garden lighting, garden buildings, bbq's and water features.
If you need an energy efficient alternative to mains powered lights this year then solar powered LED lights should be exactly what you are looking for. These solar lights harness the power of the sun, charging up during the day and coming to life at night.
Add a seasonal glow to plants, trees, borders and pathways.
The photocell built into the solar panel triggers the lights to turn on automatically at night and then the timer will switch off the lights after 6 hours. Obviously, the more sun the solar panel gets during the day the brighter and longer the lights will shine for but it will still charge even on cloudy days.
As there is no wiring needed apart from arranging the lights in your chosen location, it makes these solar lights much easier to install and safer.
Let creativity shine with solar lights for every part of your garden, add sparkle to your eves, decorate window boxes, plants and trees.
There are many benifits of switching from the old conventional style of lighting to modern LED lighting.
Tough, durable and long lasting, LED lighting will out live the conventional Christmas Lights used by most many times over. Also, LEDs are low voltage so they are safe not only outside but inside your home too.
How does it work? Conventional lighting utilises incandescent bulbs that merely push in which can be damaged very easily. Eventually one light will go out but the problem is it will knock out all the other lights with it, breaking the current. The amazing thing about LED lighting is that if this happens, the rest of the lights stay on as they all operate independently of one another.
Your new set of LED Christmas lights use 90% less energy saving you money and making them more evnironmentally friendly.
Not many LED lights can bring the magic of Christmas to life like these can. Whether its inside or outside your home, you can be sure that your festivities will light up your Christmas for yeas to come.
Get creative with Premier Connectable LED Lights giving you the ability to connect up to 5000 LED lights to just ONE power outlet!
You can discard your collection of old exstension cables and sockets which can be a nightmare to set up. Premiers light sets feature easy to use connectable accessories to make the job that bit easier.
With connectable lights you're able to connect up to 5,000 lights from just one socket! You will pay less, save on mess and save on stress.
Conventional lights are sometimes too short. With Connectable’s you are safe in the knowledge that if your lights are too short, you can just extend them with another set. Make your own system to suit your needs.
More durable and brighter than conventional lighting, you can be sure that you lights will be able to be used year after year.
Urgh...the summer surely has flown by and believe me I know it is too early still to start talking about Christmas however, it certainly isn't to early to start to think about the festive season. Getting things together and planned early is key to stress free Christmas where you can sit back and enjoy some delicious eggnog while watching some of those Christmas specials on the television.

Getting ready for winter is not a task most of us relish. After the Christmas season passes and our New Year’s resolutions are long forgotten, we still have to deal with the snow, sleet, and most of all the cold. Sleet and snow can make it difficult for us to get where we need to go. Inadequate maintenance of our driveways, for example can lead to expensive downtime if we injure ourselves.
The best way to avoid injury to ourselves and others is to keep our walkways clear. Providing a winter care package, preparedness kit, or whatever a person would like to call his collection is a good way to make sure we have the items to prevent accidents that bring either pain to us our loved ones, or financial injury to our pocket books.
Preparing a winter care package is relatively easy. Start with the basics snow shovels or a snow blower and rock salt for the home. Pick up an extra shovel to keep in your car for emergencies. Don't forget windshield scrapers and brushes to wipe off the snow or frost on the cold winter mornings. You can even stock up on tea, coffee or hot chocolate to make sure that you have something warm to drink at home after using your winter care package. Just remember to take breaks when shovelling snow.
You have just finished putting up the tree. It was a long process, but you found all the decorations, made sure all the lights work, and garnered what help he can from other members of his family. When you manage to get the inside of the house looking like it is ready for Christmas, you are probably ready to take a step back and enjoy the labours of the work. You may even do so for a short period.
When you step outside of the house, you can see the immediate problem with this perception. If you are an early starter, you may realise that you have not decorated the outside of your house. If you are a late starter, the neighbour’s ostentatious displays will make what you need to do exceedingly obvious. Regardless of the situation that causes you to come to this conclusion, you know you need to do more to get your house ready for the holidays. LED Christmas lights are the perfect way to get your house looking like it is ready for Christmas.
Simply find a few strings and put them around the house like you would the older indoor/outdoor incandescent variety. The cords let a person shape them into any pattern you desire. You can even misspell words in LED Christmas lights if you choose to do so.
The weather is affecting deliveries to several areas of the UK as the snow and ice sets to worsen during the next few days.
At present we cannot accept any orders for deliveries to Scottish postcodes as we can’t guarantee a definite delivery date. Our couriers in these areas have up to 10 days of parcels in their network due to the recent bad weather. Their warehouses are full and cannot take any more parcels until the backlog is cleared.
Please note we also have delays on deliveries to postcodes in the North East. Again warehouses in this area are full and couriers are struggling to work through the backlog in difficult circumstances.
We can assure you we are doing everything we can to get your order to you before Christmas.

The debate over artificial and fresh Christmas trees continues. In some parts of the Christmas-celebrating English-speaking world the debate uses the same arguments, but different words. Americans are likely to refer to the type of tree a consumer needs to buy from a roadside stand as a real Christmas trees.
Fresh Christmas trees usually come from farms who plant so many trees each year and cut the trees down after they reach a certain height to meet the demand. Such trees are easily biodegradable, burnable at the end of the season, and also have a scent some people find pleasant.
The downside comes when a person with allergies must spend the time in the presence of the tree for months on end.
Artificial Christmas trees are made out of plastics, which consume fossil fuels, and require more effort to take up and put down. Although the materials are not environmentally friendly, the trees are reusable and can be stored easily until a person needs them again. In the long run, these trees save energy because a person does not need to buy them again year after year. Allergy problems, unless a person is allergic to plastic, are also avoided.
The major reason to have a fresh tree is that for many people it provides a more Christmas-like atmosphere.
Mostly everyone likes to decorate for Christmas and for many a Christmas tree is a must but, sometimes it is hard to decide whether to purchase a real tree or buy an artificial tree.
Buying a real tree has several advantages in comparison to an artificial tree. When you buy a real tree, you can enjoy the fun and adventure of going to an outdoor fair or garden centre where they are selling lines of trees, and enjoy the wonderful aroma of fresh trees. When you’re there looking at them, you can also touch the trees to see which look and feel the freshest. As you wander through the trees you can enjoy times in the past when you did the same thing—maybe with your loved one or parents and once again relive the memory of that time.
Then, of course, once you bring the real tree home, you water the tree and then bring it in the house for decoration. This is the best part because you can decorate your real tree any way you want. This is your tree—your selection-- and as you put the ornaments on the tree, you can once again enjoy the aroma and beauty of a real tree. In addition, real trees release a good amount of oxygen into the air and real trees are renewable—they can be recycled and that is eco-friendly to the environment.
Water; the image brings up thoughts of mountain streams, bubbling brooks, a waterfall tumbling onto the rocks below, summer rains. The soothing sounds of water trickling, flowing over rocks or rushing swiftly by are calming sensations for people. Why not bring that sound into the house this Christmas?
There are many choices when it comes to indoor water features. Wall fountains, which can be mounted indoor or out, come in many sizes and styles. There are small wall fountains that can be mounted on any wall and large wall fountains that need a significant amount of space. They are available in different materials such as slate, marble and copper. Features include mirrors around the water, trees inside the water, lights illuminating the water and some can even be ordered with a logo on them.
Table top fountains are the easiest to place since they come in sizes small enough for a side table to being the main centrepiece. On some, the water comes from above and goes down a series of steps and on some it flows down a smooth disk and lands on river rocks. Some have lights illuminating the fountain, some have greenery and some have the element of fire.
Whichever you choose, a water feature in the house will enhance your home with a sense of peace and tranquillity.
