How Solar Panels Work

Solar panels enable garden lighting and water features to be placed anywhere in the garden without wiring restrictions.

Solar panels are made using layers of light conducting material, usually silicon. This method of energy production is cheap, efficient and sustainable.

They use direct sunlight to generate power which will either be used instantly or stored and released throughout the night depending on the product.

A solar garden light absorbs and stores direct sunlight during the day which charges a battery. When the sensor detects minimal daylight it will activate the battery to produce light.

A solar water feature works by absorbing direct sunlight to power the water pump, which moves water through the fountain.

Depending on the water feature it may have a battery back up to allow the energy to be saved for those cloudy days and barmy summer evenings.
