About Henri Fountains

General Guidelines
- Fountains must be set in a firm and level position. This is essential for stability as well as for an even flow of water. The fountian may if necessary be set up on a patio slab or concrete base.
- No plumbing lines or pipes are needed as all Henri fountains come with integral re-circulating pumps which re-cycle their own water. You should simply site your feature within range of your garden hose for topping up and cleaning.
- Some of the Henri features (those in which water falls from a considerable height) are only suitable for external use.
- Do remember when handling Henri products that the fountain components are made of concrete and therefore very heavy. They are also easily damaged when incorrectly handled so always get help when setting up your fountain.
General Maintenance
- Under normal circumstances very little needs to be done to protect the finish of the natural concrete fountains. Like any painted product your fountain will inevitably over a period of time fade and lose some of its lustre. However, most find this natural weathering and aging attractive- it can even give your fountain an 'antique' look.
- The natural weathering can, if you wish be impeeded by the seasonal application of a coat of Henri Studio Clear Spray which will restore its lustre.
- Should your fountain suffer any small dings, knicks and scratches these can be quickly and easily camouflaged using a Henri Studios Touch Up Kit which we stock.
- To avoid the build up of unsightly green algae in your fountain use our Algae Stopper Long Lasting and to remove the white residue caused by limescale build up use our Fountain Lime & Grime Cleaner.
- You may also need to occasionally clean your pump to remove a similar build up of limescale and any debris.
Wintercare
Extreme and rapid changes in temperature and humidity affect all concrete adversley. Concrete has a natural and inherent tendency to expand and contract with changes in the climate conditions.
Your Henri fountain has been designed and manufactured with the weather in mind. The concrete mix itself contains additives which enhance its elastic qualities. Some of the components are re-inforced with steel. Sometimes small innocous surface shrinkage cracks will inevitably appear but your fountain will not crack as long as these simple rules are followed:
- Do not allow water to collect and freeze in the bowl, shell or waterways. Never allow the fountain to sit in a pool of ice
- Shells and bowls left exposed to freezing conditions may shale and crack due to the mechanical force of water solidifying and then expanding along the surface of the concrete.
- Ideally during freezing temperatures the feature is best dismantled and stored in your garage, cellar or garden shed. If this is not possible you must at least protect the fountain from ice formation. This can be achieved by simply removing all the water from the fountain and placing a large fountain protection cover over the feature. (We stock a full range of fountain winter protection covers)
