Meet Sven

Although at least one of the directors think they know their Allopia Japonica (a Japenese weed that's a real pain) from their Cockburnianus, Sven Wombwell really knows all things to do with gardening and landscaping.

Each month he'll be bringing you great tips, advice and inspiration on how to get your garden looking great, and getting the most from it whatever the season.

Sven is the co-presenter and landscape designer in Five’s flagship show House Doctor Inside and Out. Sven is one of UKTV’s main gardening faces with over 100 hours of programming. Including ‘Turf Wars Celebrity Special’ ‘Dream Cottage’ in association with The Daily Mail.

In 2004 Sven wrote his first book ‘Lifescapes – Garden Designs For Your Lifestyle’. The book looks at lifestyle trends and how they can be interpreted and translated into garden designs. Prior to this he designed and co-presented two series of ‘Garden ER’ (aired April 2003), ‘Weed it and Reap’ and ‘Columbia Road Gardens’ for UKTV Style where he single-handedly converted outside urban spaces into amazing designs, using purchases from the legendary Columbia Road Flower market.

Although Sven has a broad experience of all garden and plant types, modern designs, urban gardens and creating ‘an outside space and experience’ are his favourite themes and concepts.
