My water feature has stopped working - what do i do?

There are many reasons why this could happen and many ways to solve the problem!

  • Check the pump - is it fully submerged in water? If the pump has been left to run dry this will burn out and a replacement would be needed. The pump must always be fully submerged! Don't remove the pump from the water when it's turned on.
  • Are there any blockages in the pump or pipe work? Try soaking the pump in warm water to ensure it's clear.
  • Does the feature have lights? Do they run from the same plug as the pump? If so check whether the lights and the pump have both stopped working - this could mean that the transformer needs replacing. Or if only one componant has stopped but the other still works this means that it is only this part which has failed.
  • Try the plug in a different socket to ensure this isn't the problem!

Do I need to bring my water feature in during the winter?

Wherever possible we would always recommend that you bring your water feature in during winter to prevent any damage.

What do i do if I'm unable to bring my water feature in during the winter?

Drain the water feature fully ensuring no water is left inside the feature (you can use towels etc to soak up any excess). Then using a fountain protection cover keep your water feature tucked up over winter. If, in worst case scenarios, you are unable to drain your water feature you can pop a tennis ball into the reservoir with the water feature to help prevent the expansion of freezing water cracking or damaging the feature.

My solar water feature worked fine for a day and has now stopped working, what do I need to do?

Ensure that the solar panel is turned on and is positioned in direct sunlight. The solar panel will NOT charge through glass or in dull / dark conditions. If your feature has a battery back up then this will allow charge to be stored up for use on a night etc however if the water feature is for use in direct sunlight only then even slight cloud cover can effect how well this will work..

How do I know what size pump is suitable for my water feature?

Do you have an existing pump that you need to replace? If so, there should be a label on the pump itself with information including the wattage and the LPH or head height of the pump. You can then match this to a replacement with the same or similar specifications. Are you starting from scratch and don't have any information at all? If so, the main factors to consider are the height of the water feature (the distance from the pump to the maximum point that the water will need to reach is classed as the head height

How do I know how much water to put in my water feature?

The amount of water depends on the size of the feature. There needs to be enough to ensure the pump is fully submerged at all times. You will need to keep your water feature regularly topped up, especially during much warmer weather.

Can I keep my water feature running 24/7?

It's not adviseable to keep your water feature on all day every day. We would recommend turning the feature off at night or when you're out of the house - as you would most electrical appliances.
