How to change halogen bulbs on water features

Here's a useful step by step guide showing how to change a halogen bulb within a water feature.

When purchasing a water feature with halogen lights you should get a small pack with a spare bulb cover and also several spare bulbs (shown below)

The first job is to remove the existing failing halogen light, turn the water feature off and unplug at the wall

Unplug the light either from the transformer or the splitter on the pump.

You may find the glass cover tough to remove simply twist and pull, please do be care after all this is glass.

Pull out the existing halogen bulb and just simply replace with the new light

Place the glass cover back over the halogen light ensure you are careful when replacing the cover, a twisting action will help the cover to slide on.

When replacing a halogen light always ensure the wattage of the bulbs match. You will find the wattage on the original bulbs neck the number will be indented into the glass.

Please do remember when dealing with glass covers always handle carefully

We always recommended keeping transformers either indoors or inside a weatherproof box, this will prolong the life of the transformer.

We stock a wide range of spares for most water features, including spare halogen bulbs and glass covers.
